TYPHOON MEMORIAL

 

A memorial to Typhoon pilots was unveiled on 9th  June 1994 at the village of Villers Bocage in Normandy.  It was inaugurated by Monsieur Roland Heudier the mayor of Villers Bocage.  Among those present was Monsieur Raymond Triboulet (Minister under General De Gaulle) and General Yves Paul Ezanno DFC and bar, and Squadron Leader Denis Sweeting of the 198th Typhoon Squadron.

This memorial is locate beside the main road at Villers Bocge.  We think it is quite simply magnificent, simple yet striking, most unexpected to find such a first class memorial in such to the average tourist an unlikely spot. This site is well worth visiting as it brings home the importance these pilots played in the liberation of Europe.
